Career Outcomes for IUPUI Undergraduates
In coordination with the Career Services Council’s Research and Assessment Committee, Campus Career and Advising Services (CCAS) administers the First Destination Survey to all IUPUI undergraduates who earn an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or certificate. This survey is based on the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) standards and protocols developed to standardize collection of career outcomes data.
The IUPUI survey consists of the NACE standard questions, some campuswide questions on relationship between major and career, and internship experience. In addition, schools were invited to submit school-specific questions for their graduates to answer. Graduates begin filling out the First Destination Survey once they have plans solidified for postgraduation. At the point of graduation, CCAS begins emailing and calling students to remind them to complete the survey or to walk them through the survey via phone. Many schools do likewise to encourage students to complete the survey at go.iupui.edu/nextstep.
As a final step, data reported through school processes (e.g., spreadsheets, paper surveys, social media outreach) are consistently reported to CCAS to supplement data collected through the survey. In addition, CCAS searches LinkedIn to find reportable employment outcomes for inclusion.
